The IFSC Code (Indian Financial System Code) is an alpha-numeric code which exclusively identifies a bank-branch participating in the two main Electronic Funds Settlement Systems in India which are the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) and the National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) Systems. This is in total an 11-character code where the first four alphabetic characters represents the bank name, and the last six characters (which are usually numeric, but can be alphabetic also) represent the branch.
